“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”
Amen.
~ Psalm 23
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.
~ John 10:11
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
~ John 10:28
Note: Today’s paintings are: Bernhard Plockhorst‘s “The Good Shepherd”, 19th century; and Charles Bosseron Chambers’s, “Jesus and the Lost Sheep”. I searched and searched for a better quality version of the latter, but this was the best I could find. The painting is so beautiful that I decided to include it anyway.
