My 10 Year WordPress Anniversary: Scooby, Vampires, and Jesus, Oh, My!

It was ten years ago today that I pressed “Publish” for the very first time, and “Seeker of Truth” blog was born. In these ten years, a lot of things have happened; some good, some very good; and definitely a whole lotta bad thrown in too. But through it all… here we are. A decade older, and hopefully a little bit wiser than we were in 2012.

In my ten year blogging adventure, I’ve covered a plethora of topics, like Scooby-Doo (wow, has my collection grown since I started here!), Jesus and art — the things closest to my heart — but we’ve also gone down a few other paths as well. We’ve discussed classic horror films, Dracula, Nancy Drew and the groovy Hardy Boys record holder that I restored; I’ve shown off my Christmas decorating skills, and confessed my love of Christmas-themed Archie comics; I’ve shared a few of my favourite recipes, talked Twilight Zone till I was black and white swirls in the face; heck, there was even that one time I laid out — in painful detail — my perfect dream web browser (and quickly realized that that ship had already sailed, #RIP Netscape Navigator).

I’ve taken my readers step-by-step through the process of painting a masterpiece, and I’ve done my best to introduce you to the long-forgotten, shamefully overlooked, morally-minded cinematic gems that I’ve discovered along the way.

My love for horror greats Peter Cushing and Vincent Price has been made obnoxiously obvious on numerous occasions, and I’ve made lists of some of my favourite things: Like my Top 10 Ray Harryhausen Creatures, the 10 Scariest Episodes of Scooby-Doo, and my 25 favourite Twilight Zone episodes (because who can choose only 10, I mean really??).

If you’ve been here for a spell, then you know that I don’t believe Judas is in hell, I’ve proven that the Bible states Jesus was nailed through His PALM, not His wrist (and why it matters), and that Jesus is Lord, the Great Creator of Heaven and Earth, and all that is in them. I’ve kept up my first Sunday of the month scripture posts faithfully since 2014 (be sure to come back on Sunday for the May 2022 edition!), and while those are sadly all I’ve been able to make time to do here for quite a while now, ten years was NOT enough to say all that I want to say. There are so many more topics I want to cover, and old chestnuts I want to revisit. You know how I like to beat a dead horse on occasion, lol. There’s still plenty of things making me angry that I want to rant over, as well as some other things that I’ve grown to adore and I want to gush about them.

WordPress has unfortunately made keeping up my particular flavour of blogging quite difficult. As long as you’re not a first-time visitor, then you know my penchant for long posts filled to the brim with high quality, huge file size photos, and my free WP plan started warning me that I was getting dangerously low on space last year. That’s really the reason that I stopped blogging as much. I was afraid of hitting my space limit, and formatting my photos became too much of a time-sucking chore… just sucked all the fun right out of this. But… ten years down, another ten years to go, right???

So happy birthday/anniversary to my blog, an ongoing personal project that I’m grateful at least a couple of people still seem to enjoy. I do this for me, but I surely appreciate anyone who has ever taken the time to read, like, comment and share my posts. And if you’ve been here since day one, or at least since my commentary on Edgar Allan Poe’s commentary on The Raven was Freshly Pressed? Well, I’ll be asking Mr. Pedott to pay you a visit shortly, and he’ll give you whatever you might be needin’.

How lovely that my blog shares a birthday with my favourite literary heroine of all time, the intrepid Ms. Nancy Drew of River Heights, USA, who was first published on April 28, 1930, and today celebrates 92 years of teaching girls of all ages that being polite, responsible, and resourceful will always be in fashion. Remember, aspirational IS attainable. (And seriously people, f-off with your f-ing “Vintage fashion, not vintage values” bullshit — you don’t have a clue what you’re even talking about. Not everyone in history was a damn racist and owned slaves. The minority (the racists) will never be the majority, so stop acting like they were/are. I’ve been wanting to get that off my chest for a good long while.)

And with the clock quickly winding down to midnight (you know how I love to hang a post on an anniversary day and it’s literally 11:45PM!), bringing this milestone anniversary to an end, please let me once again say thank you if you have ever read anything on this blog or commented — even if you wrote me an inappropriate or nasty comment, because for one, I have a sassy streak that needs to be exercised once in a while; and two, it’s helped me to learn patience. Well… that learning is still in progress. But we’re making progress, and that’s what counts, right?

A decade is a long time; I was 25 when I started this journey, and now I’m 35. I’ll turn 36 in August, and then I’ll be the age Marilyn Monroe was when she died. But I’ve got a whole lot more livin’ to do, and hopefully a little more bloggin’ too.

Thanks again, guys, see you on Sunday!

♥ Wendy
